Tomorrow Wednesday, September 29 is the inaugural Silent Movie Day!

This event is officially endorsed by Harold Lloyd Entertainment, and we thank everyone involved for its organization and participation.

The UCLA Film and Television Archive will offer free online screenings of three restored Harold Lloyd comedies in celebration of Silent Movie Day. Click here to register and you will be sent a pass to access the event. Showtime is 4 PM, but your pass remains valid through 10/13.

Don’t miss this special matinee screening of Harold Lloyd’s comedy classic “Safety Last!” on a beautiful 35mm print from the Lloyd family archives, on Saturday, July 17 at 3:00 p.m. at the breathtaking Hollywood Legion Theater.

The screening will also feature a conversation between Suzanne Lloyd, Harold’s granddaughter, and Randy Haberkamp, the Managing Director of Preservation and Foundation Programs for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Harold does it again! Ninety-eight years after becoming an American icon by hanging from the hands of a clock over downtown L.A., he’s back, proudly hanging from American Legion Post 43 on Highland Avenue, just down the street from the entrance to the world famous Hollywood Bowl!

Pictured in the attached photos are veteran Bill Steele of the American Legion and Retroformat Silent Films board president Tom Barnes, assisting Retroformat board member Sean Malone in executing his plan, based on Suzanne Lloyd’s own idea.

Thanks to The Lambs, the oldest theatrical social club, and Beth Goffe for hosting such a wonderful conversation with Suzanne Lloyd on April 20—Harold’s birthday! The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston will be presenting HOT WATER (1924) on Monday, May 10, at 6:30PM CDT as a part of their Virtual Cinema program. Our good friend pianist Ben Model will be accompanying the film. Admission for this virtual screening is FREE!
